Anointed for a Purpose
Day 1: Anointed for Purpose
Reading: Isaiah 61:1-3, Luke 4:16-21
Devotional: As we begin this journey, let's reflect on Jesus' declaration of His purpose and anointing. Just as Christ was anointed to bring good news, healing, and freedom, we too are called and empowered for a divine purpose. Today, consider how the Spirit of the Lord is upon you. What areas of your life need to be surrendered to God's anointing? How can you be a bearer of good news to those around you? Ask God to reveal His specific calling for you this year and to fill you afresh with His Spirit.
Day 2: Filled with the Spirit
Reading: Ephesians 5:15-20
Devotional: Today's passage contrasts being filled with wine versus being filled with the Spirit. As believers, we're called to be under the influence of the Holy Spirit rather than worldly influences. Reflect on what it means to be "filled with the Spirit" in your daily life. Are there areas where you've been relying on your own strength instead of God's power? Take time to invite the Holy Spirit to saturate every aspect of your life - your thoughts, decisions, and actions. Ask God to help you live wisely, making the most of every opportunity to glorify Him.
Day 3: Commissioned to Make Disciples
Reading: Matthew 28:16-20
Devotional: The Great Commission is our marching orders as followers of Christ. Notice how Jesus addresses both the worshippers and the doubters - His call is for everyone who follows Him. Who has God placed in your life that needs to hear the Gospel? Take some time to write down names of people you can pray for and seek opportunities to share Christ with this year. Remember, as you go, Jesus promises His presence "to the very end of the age." How does this promise encourage you in your mission?
Day 4: Set Apart for God's Purposes
Reading: 1 Peter 2:9-12
Devotional: As anointed believers, we are set apart for God's purposes. Peter reminds us that we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, called to declare God's praises. Reflect on the unique spheres of influence God has given you - in your family, workplace, or community. How can you be a light in these areas? Ask God to show you specific ways you can represent Christ and share His love in your daily interactions. Remember, your life may be the only Bible some people read.
Day 5: Yielding All to God
Reading: Romans 12:1-2
Devotional: Our journey concludes with a call to full surrender. Paul urges us to offer our bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God. This echoes the sentiment of Wesley's Covenant Prayer: "I freely and wholeheartedly yield all things to your pleasure and disposal." What areas of your life are you still holding back from God? Take time to pray through each part of Wesley's prayer, sincerely offering every aspect of your life to God. Ask for the courage to live out this commitment daily, allowing God to transform you and use you for His glory.
