Goodness // Fruitology
Day 1: Reflecting God's Goodness
Reading: Psalm 145:1-21
Devotional: As we begin this journey, we focus on God's perfect goodness. The psalmist reminds us that "The Lord is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made" (v.9). Just as the moon reflects the sun's light, we are called to reflect God's goodness in our lives. Today, consider how you can be a mirror of God's goodness to those around you. Are there areas where you've grown dim? Ask God to renew His light within you, that others might see His goodness through your actions and attitudes.
Day 2: Righteousness Through Faith
Reading: Romans 3:21-26
Devotional: Today's passage reveals a profound truth: we cannot achieve righteousness on our own, but God provides it through faith in Jesus Christ. This gift of righteousness transforms us from being separated from God to being in right relationship with Him. Reflect on what it means to be "justified freely by his grace" (v.24). How does this change your perspective on your own efforts versus God's work in your life? Thank God for His incredible gift and ask Him to help you live in the freedom and joy of His righteousness.
Day 3: The Call to Live Righteously
Reading: Micah 6:6-8
Devotional: Having received God's righteousness, we are called to live it out. Micah beautifully summarizes what God requires: "To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God" (v.8). This is the essence of living righteously. Today, examine your life in light of these three aspects. Where are you succeeding in acting justly, loving mercy, and walking humbly? Where do you need growth? Ask God to show you specific ways you can align your life more closely with His righteousness.
Day 4: Goodness in Action
Reading: Acts 9:36-42
Devotional: The story of Tabitha (Dorcas) provides a powerful example of goodness in action. She was "always doing good and helping the poor" (v.36), leaving a legacy that moved an entire community. Her life demonstrates that true goodness flows outward, blessing others. Today, consider your own legacy. What would others say about the good you do? Ask God to show you opportunities to bless others, whether through small acts of kindness or more significant commitments to service. Remember, every act of goodness, no matter how small, can have a ripple effect for God's kingdom.
Day 5: Persevering in Goodness
Reading: Galatians 6:7-10
Devotional: As we conclude our reflection on goodness, Paul encourages us not to "become weary in doing good" (v.9). Living out God's goodness isn't always easy or immediately rewarding, but we're promised a harvest if we don't give up. Today, reflect on areas where you might be feeling weary in doing good. Maybe you're not seeing results, or your efforts aren't being appreciated. Remember that God sees your faithfulness. Ask Him for renewed strength and perseverance. Commit to "do good to all people" (v.10), trusting that God will use your acts of goodness for His purposes, even when you can't see the immediate impact.
